Attention: These photo pages are out of date because I cannot maintain this web site alone and because I'm usually on the road. Scroll through the Aimless Blog to see pictures I've taken with my phone.

Here are some thumbnailed links to photos from my Aimless journey in late 2006 (in chronological order). I selected these particular photos for a variety of reasons, beginning with their ability to tell a story. However, many of the pictures don't contribute to the story at all. Some of them are here because I wanted to show some of the people I encountered along the way, while others are here because I just love how they turned out.

Under each of my favorite pics, the date is shown in boldface & underline. The bottom two-thirds of Page 2 is loaded with pics I love, but Page 1 and Page 3 contain their fare share, too. (Your browser may scale down the pics, so click each pic to display it as full-size.)

12/18/2006 - This one might be my favorite picture. It pretty much speaks for itself.		12/18/2006 - By this point I just could not believe I was still in Quartzsite, so I made a new sign designed to beg my passersby for a ride. I wanted out of there so bad, and I was starting to wonder if I would ever find a ride. With the bad ankle and so many other things beginning to make this trip feel like Hell, I was seriously starting to consider taking my mom up on her offer to fly me home. I'm glad I didn't do it, though. (I couldn't keep this sign up for long because the calm, sunny day turned into a windy, cold day.)

12/19/2006 - I had a bitch of a time getting out of Phoenix, too. After realizing I was in a bad spot for hitchhiking earlier in the day, I ended up walking about 7 miles, mostly over inclined gravel that made each mile feel more like 2 miles, to reach this point. No luck getting a ride here, either.

12/19/2006 - You can also see this display in the bottom left-hand side of the previous picture. I don't know what it's supposed to mean, but I thought it was interesting enough to take a picture of it.

12/19/2006 - I wish this picture had better captured what I was seeing when I pointed the camera and pressed the button. The problem is that the entire sky was freaky-looking. Here I'm facing south and kind of east, whereas the previous sky pics were pretty much southwest.

12/20/2006 - After another cold and sleepless night, I finally got a ride out of Phoenix with a truck driver named Earl Wordlaw. Earl picked me up at a truck stop near Avondale, Arizona (a western suburb of Phoenix). This picture is from a rest area just east and south of Tucson.

12/20/2006 - Another pic from the same rest area near Tucson, Arizona.		12/22/2006 - This is Earl. He took me all the way from Phoenix to Memphis, with a stop in Brookhaven, Mississippi to drop his load. I had a really nice time hanging out with Earl. I really wish he had stayed on I-10 instead of taking I-20, though. Man, I-20 is depressing. In addition to giving me a ride, Earl also bought me a few meals along the way.
12/24/2006 - West Memphis, Arkansas on the morning of Christmas Eve. Would I possibly be able to make it home to Ohio for Christmas?		12/24/2006 - A sign next to the I-40 on-ramp in West Memphis, Arkansas. This is the most exciting thing in the whole city.

Sorry, folks, if you were expecting a better ending to this picture story, but I just didn't take any pictures between Tucson and West Memphis, nor did I take any pictures between West Memphis and Ohio. I did, however, have the camcorder rolling a lot when I wasn't taking still pictures, and I'm pretty sure I captured a lot of good stuff. (I still have a lot of tape to watch before I can tell you for sure.) So hopefully I'll be able to get some video onto the site pretty soon. I feel pretty good about the footage I've reviewed so far.
