Attention: These photo pages are out of
date because I cannot maintain this web site alone and because I'm
usually on the road. Scroll
through the Aimless Blog
to see pictures I've taken with my phone.
Here are
some thumbnailed links to photos from my Aimless journey in late 2006
(in chronological order). I selected these particular photos for a
variety of reasons, beginning with their ability to tell a story.
However, many of the pictures don't contribute to the story at all.
Some of them are here because I wanted to show some of the people I
encountered
along the
way, while others are here because I just love how they turned out.
Under each of my favorite pics, the date is shown in boldface &
underline. The bottom two-thirds of Page 2 is
loaded with
pics I love, but Page
1 and Page 3 contain their fare share,
too. (Your browser may scale down the pics, so click each pic to
display it as full-size.)

The on-ramp to I-70 West in beautiful Richfield, Utah is
where it all began. (That is, after I walked a couple miles from the
Travelodge.)

11/19/2006 - Looking to the southwest, from the Interstate 70 West
on-ramp, just outside Richfield, Utah.

- That mountain says "Utah" better than the word 'Utah' itself.

- Snowcapped mountains quite a way to the east of Richfield.

- After Dennis Cox dropped me
off at a nearby gas station, I immediately walked to my post beside the
Interstate 15 South on-ramp in Cedar City, Utah.

11/19/2006 - In Cedar City I put down my stuff and tried for a few
hours to get a ride toward Vegas. After the sun went down, the
temperature went down, too. Way down. I ended up staying in a Motel 6
for about $30 and getting a ride to Vegas the next day.

across from UNLV in Las Vegas.

11/26/2006
- Time to leave Las Vegas (or so I
thought) from East Tropicana and Highway 95. Special thanks to Eric
Johnson, who gave me a ride from UNLV to the on-ramp and stuffed
$40 in my bag when he thought I wasn't looking. (The thing I like most
about this pic is how the power lines attract my attention.)

11/26/2006
- This is an ant hill with a cigarette butt in the middle of it. It was
in between the on-ramp and the highway, where you wouldn't expect much
smoking pedestrian traffic. Don't ask me why I like this one so much. I
just do.

11/26/2006 - From this location, it was stupid to put out a sign saying
"Ohio" because some people might not realize that I would also accept a
ride part of the way there. So I made an "NM" sign, in hopes of
indicating that I wanted to take 95 to I-40 East, through Kingman and
Flagstaff, Arizona, on the way to New Mexico.

- A lonely crack pipe sits in the desert terrain next to the on-ramp to
Highway 95 (from East Tropicana) in Las Vegas.

![[]](photos/2006aimless/thumbs/IMG_5526_tn.jpg)
11/26/2006 - Fuck it. Since the "NM" sign wasn't working, I decided to
flip back to my "Aimless" sign and head to the other side of the
on-ramp. (I don't think anyone could actually see my signs while
driving, anyway.) After waiting patiently for about five hours, I
eventually figured out that I just wasn't going to get a ride here
because it was all local traffic. So I ended up walking south at least
a couple miles, then taking a bus to Sunset Station, where I spent the
night.

11/28/2006 - See if you
can figure out why I took a picture of
this menu instead of buying one or two of the items listed on it.
(I've eaten Fatburger plenty of times, and it's good. It's just not that good. Not even close.)

11/29/2006 - I crossed paths with my good friend Jeff
Norris (left) and his friend Don
MacKay in Boulder City, Nevada. I knew I'd end up going to
California with them, even before they decided to go out of their way
to see me in Boulder City.
